Ah, the last day, a sad day. Up
at 5:30 a.m., grab a coffee, a quick bite of breakfast and pack
the boat for the haul out. Packing, hauling and loading
went smoothly. All week long Matt wouldn't run any
boats or vehicles as he's had some bad luck in the past ... to
say the least. Until Saturday that is, when we hauled
Gene's boat out of the water. Matt drove Gene's truck,
with no problems! He obviously figured out Gene had
marine insurance and was quite confident he wouldn't be liable
for any damages. Gene, Vic and I were on the gravel road by 9:30 a.m. The only challenge on the drive out was when Gene's boat trailer lost a bearing buddy, knocked off by flying gravel. Thankfully, we'd learned how to deal with this on a previous trip with Les Moore. You take an empty beer can (there happened to be plenty lying around from the trip up), cut it in half and duct tape it over the hub. Made Red Green proud we did. Then we were on our way again. We all agreed the trip was over too soon and look forward to the next one. On a personal note I want to thank everyone for having me along. It's a distinct pleasure to be able to join such a great bunch of guys. Everyone always pitched in to get things done; the camaraderie and sense of fun from everyone made the trip great! Hopefully we'll get to make this trip again in 2006 and I'll see you there. Richard |
